The US House of Representatives approved a bill on Tuesday imposing stricter sanctions on Russia. The proposal, known as the "Hell Sanctions," received support from 262 lawmakers, while 159 voted against it.

The legislation was co-sponsored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Following the House's approval, it must still be signed by President Donald Trump before it can take effect.

The House overcame a crucial procedural hurdle and opted to support the legislation, which grants the President the authority to impose tariffs on countries purchasing Russian energy resources.

The bill had previously received the backing of the US Senate, which voted in favor of the measures on August 8. It is now awaiting final confirmation from the President.

The final vote on the legislation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16. This is seen as a significant step in US policy towards Russia.

By passing this law, the US House strengthens measures against Russia, while it remains unclear to what extent the President will exercise the new powers.
