UTAO estimates cost of six-month parental leave at 230 million euros
The Technical Unit for Budget Support indicates that the annual expense of the parental leave proposed by the Government amounts to 230 million euros, less than the initially suggested 445 million euros.

The Technical Unit for Budget Support (UTAO) has revealed that a six-month parental leave at 100% would cost approximately 230 million euros annually. This figure is significantly lower than the 445 million euros the Government had initially presented as an estimate.
UTAO clarified that the 445 million should be interpreted as an upper limit, not as a central estimate. This clarification comes in response to the Government's proposal for an increase in the duration of paid parental leave.
Additionally, UTAO reported that the proposals presented by the opposition range between 33 million and 290 million euros, indicating a discrepancy in the estimates for the cost of this measure.

The data from UTAO has been a focal point of debate among members of Parliament as various proposals and estimates are being discussed. These discussions aim to influence the formulation of family support policies.
Meanwhile, the issue of six-month parental leave continues to generate debate across sectors, considering the financial implications for the state's budget and support for families.
At the same time, another study highlights that workplace stress is costing companies a significant amount, estimated at 1.5 million euros per hour, reflecting the need to pay attention to psychological health issues in the workplace.
