Following the death of a girl in Palermo due to diphtheria, doses of vaccines have arrived to prevent further infections. Currently, the girl's cousin, who is hospitalized, has tested positive, but his medical condition is stable.

Approximately ten individuals, including family members and close contacts, have tested positive for the infection. Health authorities are awaiting the results of analyses on biological samples sent to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS).
