In the night from Sunday to Monday, a book titled 'Book of the Apocalypse' was stolen from the Issoire Contemporary Art Center in the Auvergne region of France. This book, notable for its cover designed and sculpted in bronze by the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí, has been described by the Clermont-Ferrand prosecutor's office as a work of great and exceptional value.

The volume weighs 210 kilos and was published by Joseph Forêt between 1958 and 1961, involving fourteen artists and writers of the time in its creation. The work has been considered for years as the most expensive book in the world.

The cover, adorned with gold, gemstones, and seashells, was part of an exhibition at the center, and its disappearance has raised significant concern among art professionals. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the theft.

According to reports, the book was valued at two million francs in 2003, making it a unique piece in the artistic and collectors' realm.

At the time of the theft, details regarding how the incident occurred and whether there are any suspects in the investigation remain unknown. The news has garnered interest both nationally and internationally due to Dalí's fame and the rarity of the stolen work.

The Issoire Contemporary Art Center has issued a statement expressing its dismay over the theft of this unique piece, reaffirming its commitment to promoting art and culture.
