Venice Film Festival 2026: Competing and Non-Competing Films
At the Venice Film Festival 2026, films by Bechis and Asgari compete, while Russell Crowe presents his documentary.

The Venice International Film Festival 2026 features a selection of films in competition, including 'Return to Buenos Aires' by Marco Bechis and 'Kami Nour' by Ali Asgari. Both films tackle significant themes within their narratives.
'Return to Buenos Aires', the latest work from Marco Bechis starring Adriano Giannini, is a sequel to 'Garage Olimpo' and addresses the trauma of the disappeared. Set in 2008, the film follows Mariano Guerra, a man who returns to Argentina to testify against the former military responsible for his torture during the dictatorship.
Ali Asgari, with 'Kami Nour', tells the story of a man who has lost faith in the future, reflecting the current climate of uncertainty in Iran. These films have been included in the official program of the festival.

Russell Crowe participates in the festival by presenting his documentary 'What Love Builds', a project that reflects on his experiences and choices between music and cinema. The film is screened out of competition.
In addition to the competing films, the festival includes several notable works out of competition, such as 'Nino', a tribute to Nino Rota directed by Walter Fasano, and other significant productions like 'Let Us Through, Dear Ancestors' by Lav Diaz and 'Un Bon Avocat' by Tristan Séguéla.
The Venice Film Festival continues to be a platform for telling deep stories and addressing relevant social issues, showcasing a wide range of works in this edition.
