Violence in the West Bank between Israeli settlers and Palestinians has increased, while the Israeli military only detains Palestinians in administrative custody. According to reports, there are currently 3,200 Palestinians in this form of detention.

At the same time, no Israeli settlers are being incarcerated, which has been criticized from various quarters as unequal treatment. Israel's Defense Minister is primarily responsible for these measures.

In light of these developments, critics assert that Israel applies a double standard, as the legal consequences for Palestinians are significantly harsher than for Israeli citizens involved in acts of violence.
