Until Ferragosto, the African high-pressure system will continue to dominate Italy, bringing high temperatures of up to 35-36°C in cities in the central-northern regions and the major islands. According to Sky TG24, the sweltering heat has characterized the summer so far, causing an increase in electricity consumption that reached a historic high in July.

Starting from Sunday, August 16, a disturbance coming from Northern Europe will bring a significant change in weather conditions. Rai News reports that thunderstorms and a drop in temperatures are expected in several Italian regions due to an influx of cold air.

Forecasts indicate that the passage of two different weather disturbances over the course of the week will bring thunderstorms, some of which may be quite intense. This version of events is supported by information provided by Sky TG24.

Weather conditions will thus begin to change, marking the end of the prolonged summer heatwave that has prevailed. The climatic shift expected for next week represents an important transitional moment for atmospheric conditions in Italy.
