The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended yellow alerts in 13 districts of mainland Portugal until Monday. This decision results from the high maximum temperatures being recorded in several regions of the country, including Évora, Lisbon, and Setúbal, among others.

The yellow alert covers the districts of Évora, Lisbon, Setúbal, and nine others, as reported by various sources. The exact number of affected districts is not specified, but the intense heat is the main reason for this precautionary measure.

Additionally, the IPMA has placed the south coast of Madeira under a yellow alert for hot weather. This alert has been in effect since 09:00 today and extends until 18:00 on Monday, as highlighted in official statements.

These alerts aim to warn the public about the consequences of excessive heat, recommending safe behaviors to minimize health risks. The IPMA regularly provides updated information about weather conditions and any changes to the issued alerts.

Forecasts indicate that temperatures will remain high in the coming days, particularly in areas where alerts have been issued. Northern Portugal is also expected to join these alerts starting Sunday, according to updates from the IPMA.

The IPMA recommends that the public stay vigilant for new information and follow guidelines to cope with extreme temperatures, thereby contributing to everyone's safety.
