Zelensky criticizes Trump’s deal on Russian diesel

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the agreement between Trump and Putin that suspends sanctions on Russian diesel, calling it an act of weakness.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed criticism of the recent deal between the United States, led by Donald Trump, and Russia, which aims to suspend sanctions on Russian diesel. Zelensky described the measure as a gesture of weakness.

Kaja Kallas, the EU's chief diplomat, also commented on the agreement, stating that the suspension of sanctions will provide Russia with more resources to fuel its war machine. Kallas emphasized that this is not the time to ease pressure on Moscow.

The EU's response to Trump's decision comes in a context where Europe plans to implement new sanctions against Russia, especially following recent attacks in Ukraine. The disagreement between U.S. actions and European intentions has been highlighted by several leaders.

According to various sources, the agreement allows for the purchase of Russian diesel until April 2027, raising concerns about the financial implications for the Kremlin, which continues to sustain its war efforts in Ukraine.

Additionally, Trump responded to Zelensky's criticisms by suggesting that Ukraine should find a new leader to negotiate peace. The tension between the Ukrainian and American leaders appears to have increased as the conflict continues.

The situation continues to evolve, with Ukraine counting on the support of the European Union, which reaffirms its commitment to maintaining pressure on Russia. The statements from Zelensky and Kallas reflect strong opposition to Trump's deal.
