A woman from East Styria was suffering from an ovarian tumor that had spread throughout her abdomen. The tumor weighed 18 kilograms and had a diameter of about 40 centimeters. The removal of the tumor was performed at the LKH University Hospital Graz. The tumor had already been discovered at the hospital in Hartberg, which led to the patient's transfer to Graz.

According to the LKH University Hospital Graz, it was found during the operation that the tumor was benign. The medical staff needed to determine whether the tumor was malignant or benign during the procedure, but the results confirmed its benign nature.

After the successful operation, the patient is doing well and has already been discharged from the hospital. This was announced in a press release from the LKH University Hospital Graz.

The tumor posed a particular challenge due to its size, but this was successfully managed by the experienced surgical team. The operation was carried out without complications, which also facilitated the rapid recovery of the patient.

The discovery and treatment of the tumor raise questions about cancer early detection, though these have not been further addressed at this time. The healthcare system has the opportunity to highlight such extraordinary cases.
