Advertising Code Committee rules against Philip Morris over AI campaign
Philip Morris received a reprimand from the Advertising Code Committee for an AI campaign that influenced consumers.

The Advertising Code Committee (RCC) has criticized tobacco manufacturer Philip Morris for a campaign that utilized artificial intelligence (AI). The RCC asserts that this campaign violated the advertising ban on tobacco.
According to the committee, Philip Morris assisted consumers in creating AI-generated texts for a consultation on stricter EU regulations regarding tobacco products. The committee ruled that this pushed consumers towards an anti-legislative stance.
A group of doctors had alerted the RCC about the campaign, which they claimed was an attempt by Philip Morris to influence the development of new tobacco laws.

The RCC concluded that Philip Morris's approach is not only contrary to existing regulations but also inappropriately influences consumers in their opinion formation.
The advertising watchdog has further investigated the matter after the doctors expressed their concerns. This investigation aims to clarify Philip Morris's practices and their impact on public opinion.
This is not the first time Philip Morris has faced scrutiny; earlier complaints had already been lodged regarding various marketing practices considered inappropriate in light of the tobacco ban.
