Aemet issues red alert for extreme heat in Galicia and Comunidad Valenciana

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a red alert in Galicia due to forecasts of maximum temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius, which will be in effect today from 1:00 PM to 8:59 PM.
In Comunidad Valenciana, the alert will take effect tomorrow, where temperatures are expected to reach up to 44 degrees Celsius. This extreme heat wave is linked to the influx of Saharan air, according to Infobae.
The red alert indicates an 'extraordinary danger' due to the weather conditions. In Comunidad Valenciana, temperatures are anticipated to significantly exceed 42 degrees, as detailed in a report by 20minutos.
Additionally, a change in weather conditions is expected towards the end of the week. This Thursday, a widespread drop in temperatures is anticipated along with the arrival of rain and storms in some regions, which could include hail and flooding, according to El País.
In total, thirteen autonomous communities have received alerts for various levels of risk due to the extreme heat experienced on the peninsula. This includes not only Galicia and Comunidad Valenciana but also other regions that are under observation.
It is advised that during the red alert period in Comunidad Valenciana, the sky will generally remain mostly clear or sunny, with possible intervals of high clouds, which may influence the perceived temperature. The public is recommended to take precautions against the extreme heat.
