After avalanche tragedy in Nepal: bodies of five climbers recovered
Nine months after a deadly avalanche on Yalung Ri in Nepal, the bodies of five missing climbers have been found, including a German.

In November 2025, a tragic avalanche struck in Nepal, capturing five climbers while they were traversing Yalung Ri. This significant disaster occurred on the slopes of the 5630-meter-high mountain near the border with Tibet. For months, the climbers remained missing until their bodies were recently discovered.
According to reports, on Saturday, nine months after the incident, a team consisting of a helicopter and rescue personnel was deployed to recover the deceased. The five climbers were found beneath a layer of snow and subsequently retrieved. This information was relayed by Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, the head of the expedition company Dreamers Destination, to the news agency AFP.
The recovered bodies include those of a German climber, as well as an Italian, an Italian-Canadian, and two Nepalese climbers. All five deceased were discovered on Yalung Ri in the region affected by the avalanche during the incident. The identities of the other recovered climbers were not specified in the reporting.
The local mayor confirmed the discovery of the bodies and provided an update on the current status of the recovery efforts. This highlights the tragedy of the incident, which carries significant emotional weight for the affected families and the climbing community.
