Nepal: Bodies of five mountaineers found on Yalung Ri

Nepalese rescuers discovered the bodies of five climbers on Thursday on Yalung Ri, a peak located on the border of Nepal and Tibet. These climbers had been missing since November 2025 after being caught in an avalanche on the slopes of this mountain, which rises to 5,630 meters.

Among the climbers found, two were Nepalese nationals, while the other three were foreigners. Reports indicated that the victims included an Italian-Canadian, a German, and an Italian, all part of an expedition on the mountain.

The bad weather and difficult terrain had complicated search efforts since the accident. The avalanche was particularly deadly, sweeping the climbers away at high altitudes on the mountain, which added to the challenges faced by rescue teams.
