Amersfoort Half Marathon Rescheduled to April Due to Heat Issues
The Amersfoort Half Marathon will now take place in April to avoid health risks from high temperatures.
The Amersfoort Half Marathon will be held in early spring moving forward, with the next edition scheduled for April 4. This marks a shift of nearly two months from previous years, when the race often took place in May or June.
The reason for the earlier date is the rising temperatures in May and June, which caused problems during the last edition. On May 31, several runners became unwell due to the heat, leading to one runner requiring resuscitation.

On that race day, temperatures reached around 25 degrees Celsius in Amersfoort. This has raised concerns about the health of participants in running events, not only in Amersfoort but also in other races in the region.
With the new date, the organization hopes to reduce the likelihood of heat-related incidents and create a safer running environment for participants.
