Portuguese athlete Vitória Oliveira established a new national record in the half marathon race walk, completing the event in 1:36.10 hours. This time represents an improvement of four and a half minutes over the previous record, according to information from Maisfutebol.
Meanwhile, Joana Pontes, a walker from GA Fátima, excelled at the European Athletics Championships by finishing the new marathon race walk in 10th place. According to Público, Pontes cut more than nine minutes off the previous record with a time of 3:41.36.
Both athletes achieved significant improvements in their disciplines, highlighting the growth of Portuguese athletics in international competitions.
