The All Progressives Congress (APC) inaugurated its presidential campaign council for President Bola Tinubu's re-election on Wednesday. The council is tasked with managing campaign messaging, engaging with the media, and fostering collaboration among party leaders and elected officials to support Tinubu's candidacy in the upcoming elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.

In a strategic move, the APC has included prominent figures from opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord, and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the campaign council. This decision has been met with resistance from certain sections within the APC, as reported by Vanguard.

At the inauguration, Tinubu emphasized that his governance duties would remain a priority despite the campaign activities. He stated that he would continue to address national issues while the party works to mobilize support at the grassroots level.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar criticized the expanded campaign council, describing it as a 'confession of fear.' He accused the administration of prioritizing political alliances over urgent economic challenges and security concerns.

Furthermore, the APC's campaign council has instructed governors and lawmakers to engage in grassroots mobilization efforts to bolster Tinubu's re-election campaign. This directive aims to ensure an organized campaign that effectively reaches local communities across the nation.

In related news, Marcel Ngogbehei, a former figure in Peter Obi's campaign, has been appointed Director-General of the Tinubu Must Stay Movement, signaling a shift in political alliances as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
