The Left Bloc (BE) has requested a hearing for Pinto Luz, the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, regarding the new Legal Regime of Urban Rehabilitation, approved on May 29. The party expressed concerns about the impact of the changes introduced in this regime, with deputy Fabian Figueiredo stating that the approval raises "legitimate and urgent institutional questions."

On the other hand, the Socialist Party (PS) has also decided to demand a parliamentary hearing of Pinto Luz. The PS raised suspicions of a conflict of interest regarding the approval of the new regime, arguing that the minister may have benefited from the promoted changes. This position was presented by deputy Eurico Brilhante Dias during statements to journalists at the Assembly of the Republic.

The news prompting the PS's request follows a report by the magazine Sábado, which highlighted the implications of the new urban rehabilitation regime. The PS expressed the need to clarify the situation to avoid any irregularities or favoritism.

The Left Bloc and the Socialist Party thus agree on the concerns raised, although their approaches are distinct. While the BE focuses on institutional questions, the PS centers on the allegation of conflict of interest.

Pinto Luz, for his part, stated that there was no intention to create legislation that benefits personal interests, denying the accusations made by the PS. This clarification aims to alleviate concerns surrounding the new regime and ensure that decisions made are transparent and fair.

The debate surrounding the urban rehabilitation regime continues to generate controversy, with different political factions demanding answers and greater clarity about the process. The hearings requested by both parties may deepen the discussion and clarify Pinto Luz's positions on the matter.
