Bomb Threat Received at Delhi High Court and Airport Ahead of Independence Day
Delhi High Court has received a bomb threat email, prompting security protocols. Officials deemed the threat a hoax after thorough checks.
On Friday morning, the Delhi High Court received an email containing a bomb threat. The message referred to August 15 and indicated that the Red Fort would be targeted. The threat also mentioned a planned explosion at the High Court set for Saturday afternoon, followed by blasts at district courts an hour later, according to reports.
Following the receipt of the email, authorities initiated standard operating procedures. Extensive security checks were conducted at the High Court, including searches by bomb disposal squads and dog teams, as a precautionary measure.
The Delhi High Court Bar Association's Joint Secretary, Kunal Malhotra, later stated that the threat appeared to be fake, reinforcing the notion that precautions were effectively taken despite the alarming message.
Officials ultimately declared the security alert a hoax after thorough investigation, ensuring that no immediate threats were posed to the courthouse or other sensitive locations.
