Brussels ensures gas supply security in the EU
The European Commission reassures that there is no immediate risk to gas supply, despite lower than usual reserves.

The European Commission reported that the European Union does not face an immediate risk to gas supply security, despite storage levels being below typical values from previous years. This statement was made this Thursday and aims to reassure the situation as winter approaches.
According to the Commission, gas storage in the EU is currently at 65.85%, with a deadline until December to reach the mandatory target of 90%. This target is seen as essential to ensure energy security during the colder months.
Portugal stands out positively, reporting a reserve level of 93.08%, which is above the EU average. Member states have been advised to continue monitoring and optimizing storage to ensure stable supply.

Despite the lower reserves, the European Commission emphasized that ongoing measures help mitigate potential risks, ensuring that gas supply is secure at this moment. No additional measures or changes in energy policies have been announced, however.
As winter approaches, the situation regarding gas storage continues to be closely monitored by member states and the Commission, but so far, there are no indications of imminent problems.
