Natural gas arrives in Madeira on Thursday despite strike
Six natural gas tankers destined for Madeira were loaded in Sines during the strike.

Six natural gas tankers destined for Madeira are expected to arrive in the region on Thursday, despite the ongoing strike by workers at REN Atlântico. The Regional Government announced that the tankers were loaded at the Sines terminal, thanks to an agreement reached with the unions that allowed loading to continue during the work stoppage.
The strike, which concludes on Tuesday, aimed to address labor demands from the workers. The agreement with the unions was crucial in ensuring that loading operations could proceed without interruptions, thereby securing the gas supply to Madeira.

On average, the region typically receives 35 gas containers per week. The arrival of the tankers during the strike will help minimize potential disruptions to the gas supply.
Transporting natural gas is critical for Madeira, where dependence on this energy resource is significant. Operations at Sines will continue to be monitored to ensure regular supply.
