Porto Covo: Bodies of two buried workers found
Two workers lost their lives after being buried at a construction site in Porto Covo. The bodies were discovered during the rescue operation.

In Porto Covo, within the municipality of Sines, two workers were buried at a depth of between five and six meters during excavation work for a hotel construction site. The authorities were alerted at 4:29 PM, initiating the rescue operations.
According to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), an INEM helicopter was dispatched to support the rescue efforts on site. The operation involved several rescue teams working to locate the buried workers.
The first body was found in the hours following the start of the rescue operation. Reports indicate that both workers were aged between 26 and 28, although details about their identities have not been released by ANEPC.

After the first discovery, rescue efforts continued until the second body was also retrieved. Emergency services confirmed that both workers had unfortunately died.
The situation has generated significant grief within the local community, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and the safety of excavation operations in the area. Additional information regarding the causes that led to the burial is still being determined.
