Thorsten Frei, the leader of the Union faction, reaffirmed that the CDU in Saxony-Anhalt cannot independently decide on potential cooperation with the AfD. This aligns with an existing fundamental resolution of the CDU that establishes a cooperation ban with the AfD.
In light of the upcoming election in Saxony-Anhalt, polls indicate that the AfD is aiming for a victory in Magdeburg. Frei pointed out that the decision regarding cooperation with the AfD should not be made at the local level.
