Chieti: Diomede Barchiesi dies after attempting to protect his son

Diomede Barchiesi, a fifty-year-old man, died in Pescara after being hit while protecting his eighteen-year-old son from an assault that took place along the promenade in Fossacesia, in the province of Chieti.

The incident occurred on the night of August 9 to 10, when Barchiesi intervened to shield his son, who was involved in a fight with other youths. Following the blow he received, the man was hospitalized in intensive care with severe brain injuries.

After a legally mandated observation period for brain death, the hospital in Pescara declared Barchiesi's death. The local health authority confirmed the man's clinical condition.

A nineteen-year-old is currently being investigated in connection with the incident. investigations are ongoing to clarify the exact circumstances of the brawl and the events that led to Barchiesi's death.
