Dendermonde police warn treasure hunters after €9 million gold discovery

The police in Dendermonde have urged treasure hunters not to come to the CAW building, where millions of euros worth of gold was recently discovered. This request follows the finding of a gold cache valued at €9 million at the construction site of the former Brouwershuis.

According to police, all the gold is certainly gone and there is no point in heading to the location. The local police have warned on social media that several treasure hunters visited the site, despite the clear message that there is no chance of finding gold anymore.

Police Chief Patrick Feys emphasized the potential dangers of the construction site, where dangerous pits are located. He warned that access to this site is not safe and is not permitted.

Additionally, police stated that the area is fenced off, making further access difficult. The warning comes at a time when there is significant interest in the gold discovery, which could lead to unsafe situations.

Given the number of interested parties, the police decided to issue this call to prevent potential risks and misunderstandings.
