Two Attacks Mark Abelardo de la Espriella's First Day as President in Colombia

On August 7, 2026, on his first day as president of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella faced two separate attacks that resulted in one death and several injuries. According to reports, a car bomb exploded near a toll booth on the Pan-American highway in the Cauca region.
