Devendra Nath Mahto Prevented from Participating in Tiranga Yatra
Jharkhand leader Devendra Nath Mahto was barred from a Tiranga Yatra due to ongoing protests against recruitment exam irregularities.
Devendra Nath Mahto, leader of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, was stopped by police while attempting to attend a Tiranga Yatra on India's Independence Day. This incident occurred as Mahto, currently on an indefinite hunger strike protesting irregularities in recruitment examinations, faced opposition from security personnel.
Video footage showed Mahto clashing with a security official who blocked his attempt to leave a protest site to join the event. Despite the police intervention, Mahto continued to advocate for justice and the rights of the people during his hunger strike, which he is conducting from a hospital floor, as per reports from Hindustan Times.
Thousands of demonstrators remain at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, where they express their dissent. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has pledged to ensure transparency in the state’s examination and recruitment processes, responding to the unrest and protests initiated by students.
