On Friday, the Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia erupted, disrupting air traffic at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. According to the Ministry of Transportation, operations were temporarily halted due to volcanic ash.
As a result of the eruption, more than 200 flights were canceled, including international connections. The ash cloud severely impaired visibility, jeopardizing flight safety.
The airport suspended operations until 9:30 AM local time. Authorities are monitoring the situation and continue to provide updates on potential impacts to air traffic.
