Evacuations on Chalkidiki Due to Wildfire

In the holiday region of Chalkidiki in northern Greece, over 250 tourists were evacuated due to a severe wildfire. The evacuation took place on Thursday using 15 small emergency boats, as reported by the broadcaster ERT. Many of the tourists were traveling with children and were in swimwear.

Authorities stated that the resorts near the wildfire were heavily affected. The evacuation was deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the vacationers. The impacted areas are very popular with tourists and attract many visitors each year.
