FC Twente reaches Conference League group stage after comeback against Qarabag
FC Twente secured a 4-1 victory after extra time against FK Qarabag on Thursday, qualifying for the Conference League following an earlier defeat.

On Thursday, FC Twente reached the group stage of the Conference League by defeating FK Qarabag 4-1 in Azerbaijan after extra time. The Tukkers had to bounce back after a 0-1 loss in the first leg of the play-offs, which was played last week.
In the return match, FC Twente initially fell behind but managed to turn the game around in the second half. Wout Weghorst, who faced criticism for his performances earlier this week, played a crucial role by both scoring a goal and providing an assist in extra time.
Younes Taha also scored during extra time, helping his team secure the victory. The initial position looked perilous, but head coach John van den Brom's team managed to turn the tide with a strong second half.

The coach made several changes to the lineup compared to the first match, with Taha and Max Bruns starting. Marko Pjaca and Aske Adelgaard were kept on the bench, resulting in a fresh dynamic in FC Twente’s play.
The match started slowly for FC Twente, but as the game progressed, they managed to restore balance. In the closing moments of regular time, the team came back from a 0-2 deficit across both legs, making extra time necessary.
With this victory, FC Twente not only won the match but also secured a place in the main tournament of the Conference League, marking a significant achievement after a challenging start.
