Festas do Povo de Campo Maior return after 11 years
The Festas do Povo de Campo Maior are back after a long absence of 11 years, promising to fill the village streets with flowers and cultural traditions.
The Festas do Povo de Campo Maior are returning this year after an 11-year hiatus. The preparation of the streets, which will be done in secrecy, aims to create a festive and colorful atmosphere for visitors and residents of the village.
For seven months, thousands of volunteers have worked on transforming paper into flowers, with the goal of reviving a tradition now recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The festivities will take place from August 8 to 16, and visitors will be able to admire the art displayed on the ceilings of the streets, which will be filled with floral creations.

The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, praised the importance of the Festas do Povo, stating that Campo Maior can teach a lesson about the significance of mutual support and cooperation within communities in Portugal.
The Minister of Culture, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, also emphasized the great significance
of the Festas do Povo de Campo Maior, highlighting the relevance of these celebrations to the identity of the region and its people.
