Fire in Lozère: Over 320 Hectares Burned and Twenty Homes Evacuated

A fire broke out on Sunday afternoon in the municipality of Massegros-Causses-Gorges, located about 140 km northwest of Montpellier. According to firefighters, the blaze, which began to spread after a car caught fire on a local road, has burned over 320 hectares.

Rescue teams reported that the situation is not under control. Approximately twenty homes had to be evacuated due to the advancing flames, which threaten several inhabited areas.

Currently, more than 400 firefighters are mobilized to combat this fire. Their efforts are supported by several firefighting vehicles trying to contain the spread of the blaze.

Those affected by the situation have been transported to temporary accommodation centers set up by local authorities. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing to clarify the circumstances of its ignition.

Firefighters continue to monitor the situation and battle active hotspots, concerned about weather conditions that could complicate their efforts.
