Fire in Lozère: Over 320 Hectares Burned, Evacuations Underway

A fire broke out on Sunday in Lozère, in the south of France, prompting evacuations in two hamlets. According to firefighters, the blaze has already burned more than 320 hectares.

The fire started around 12:45 PM in the municipality of Massegros-Causses-Gorges, following the ignition of a vehicle on a communal road. Firefighters are continuing their efforts as more than 400 of them are mobilized.

Authorities indicate that the situation is not yet under control, which has led to the evacuation of twenty houses in the area. Residents of the evacuated homes have been brought to safety by emergency services.

Conflicting reports are circulating regarding the precise extent of the damage, with some estimates suggesting over 100 hectares, while others report 153 hectares. Firefighting operations are ongoing.
