Jacques Wallage, the former politician of the Labour Party (PvdA), has passed away at the age of 79. This was confirmed by the municipality of Groningen, where he resided.

Wallage served as mayor of Groningen from 1998 to 2009 and played a significant role in local politics. He began his career as an alderman and later joined the House of Representatives for the PvdA in 1981.
