Government aims to expedite evictions for renovation work
The Government announced the easing of the eviction process to allow for major renovations in rental properties.

The Government of Portugal aims to streamline the eviction process by introducing changes to the legislation related to major renovations in residences. These changes are designed to facilitate the termination of rental contracts when extensive remodeling or restoration work requires the property to be vacated.
According to released information, the minimum notice period for a landlord to inform a tenant about the intention to carry out major renovations will be reduced from five to three years, allowing for a quicker response to situations requiring significant interventions in their properties.
