The Government of Portugal has met again with unions representing public employees for the second round of negotiations concerning the general salary update. These discussions are part of a broader negotiation process aimed at revising salaries for workers in the public sector.

During the meetings, the unions are demanding salary increases that they believe are appropriate given the current economic reality. The parties involved seek to establish an agreement that can benefit public employees and ensure their recognition in the workplace.

A multi-year agreement already in effect outlines a salary increase of 2.30% to be applied, with a minimum increase of 60.52 euros to be reached by 2027. This increase aims to improve the financial conditions of public sector workers over the coming years.

Additionally, the base salary, currently set at 934.99 euros, could be adjusted to 995.51 euros by 2027, according to information provided by sources related to the negotiation process.

Despite the meetings and the proposals presented, no consensus has yet been reached between the Government and the unions. The negotiations continue and are being closely monitored by stakeholders, who hope to achieve a satisfactory understanding.

Meanwhile, Brazil is hosting its first presidential debate between candidates Lula and Bolsonaro, which is also a significant topic in current affairs.
