Government excludes structural reform of Social Security in this legislative term
Following the release of a report on the sustainability of Social Security, the government reaffirms that the issue is "closed" in the short term.

The Portuguese Government confirmed that there will be no structural reform of Social Security in this legislative term. This reaffirmation comes after the release of a report indicating a Social Security deficit near 2 billion euros.
In statements to RTP, the Ministry of Labour clarified that the presentation of the study prepared by a working group will not reopen the process regarding the reform, asserting that the issue is, in a way, closed for the government.
This report on the sustainability of Social Security has generated concern, but the government maintains that there is no need for structural changes at this time.
With this position, the government seeks to stabilize the situation of Social Security and ensure that issues related to the deficit do not lead to changes in the system during the current term.
