The Government of Portugal will increase the discount on the Tax on Oil and Energy Products (ISP) starting next week. This increase is in response to the forecasted rise in fuel prices, which is expected to reach €2.07 per liter for diesel and €1.99 per liter for gasoline.

According to information released, the government will raise the discount by €0.10 for diesel and €0.43 for gasoline. These measures were formalized in the decree published in the Diário da República this Friday.

The increase in the ISP discount occurs amid geopolitical pressure in the Middle East, which could influence fuel prices globally. Thus, the government aims to mitigate the economic impact on consumers in light of the expected price fluctuations.

Miguel Relvas, a Portuguese politician, criticized the lack of political coordination from Luís Montenegro, stating that the fuel situation requires an organized and effective response from the authorities.

This government decision is the latest in a series of measures aimed at responding to fluctuations in the fuel market, with the goal of protecting citizens from potentially disproportionate price increases. The government remains attentive to market conditions and is ready to adjust its policies as necessary.

The decree establishing the new discount will take effect next week, reflecting the government's ongoing concern for citizens' economic well-being and the need to adapt to the energy market conditions.
