Government recognizes fires in Vouzela and Valpaços as natural disaster
The government declared the fires in Vouzela and Valpaços as a natural disaster and allocated ten million euros to support affected agricultural operations.

The Portuguese government has officially recognized the rural fires that occurred in Vouzela and Valpaços as a natural disaster. This decision was announced at a press conference held on Thursday.
To support the agricultural operations affected by the fires, ten million euros have been allocated. The scale of the fires has been highlighted as enormous, resulting in irreparable losses, including centuries-old vineyards and olive groves.
The financial support will cover 100% of the initial eligible expenses, up to an amount of 10,000 euros. Agricultural operations that experience damages exceeding 30% of their productive potential will be able to apply for this support.

The government's intentions include a significant response to the needs of local communities and careful consideration of their losses. The formal recognition as a natural disaster also aims to facilitate access to additional resources.
The support measures aim to alleviate the challenges faced by farmers due to the fires, although the impacts of severe losses are being felt across various farms.
