Today, the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) warned of a very high risk of wildfires in twenty-four municipalities across five districts in Portugal. The affected districts include Faro, Portalegre, Santarém, Viseu, and Castelo Branco.

The municipalities in question are under observation due to weather conditions that favor the spread of fires. The IPMA issued the notification as part of its routine assessments of fire risk during the hottest months of the year.

In addition to the very high risk in twenty-four municipalities, it was also reported that the municipality of Vouzela, in Viseu, is the only one currently facing a maximum risk of wildfires on the same date.

The IPMA's alert is a measure to ensure public safety and to implement appropriate precautions in more vulnerable areas. Local authorities are encouraged to activate emergency plans and prepare preventive actions.

Weather conditions, including high temperatures and low humidity levels, contribute to the danger situation. The public is advised to stay vigilant and report any signs of fire to the relevant authorities.

Practical advice includes avoiding controlled burns and checking safety regulations in fire-prone areas to mitigate associated risks. The IPMA will continue to monitor the situation and issue warnings as necessary.
