Thousands of demonstrators occupied Lisbon's Rossio square to demand housing rights, erected tents and later voted to end the encampment.

Thousands of housing rights demonstrators occupied Rossio square in Lisbon from 6.30 p.m. onwards. Participants began setting up tents behind the statue of D. Pedro IV, filling the entire square in an action that became known as the "mega encampment".
According to ECO, around 10 p.m. on the first night, the Acampada de Lisboa had counted 130 tents erected on Rossio square. The count was made during a meeting of delegates from affinity groups, and approximately 300 people planned to sleep in the tents that Saturday-to-Sunday night.

The popular assembly of Acampada de Lisboa subsequently met and approved the dismantling of Rossio square. The same assembly also decided to hold vigils from Monday onwards, according to RTP.
