The Indian government has rejected claims made by Elon Musk regarding delays in the launch of Starlink's satellite internet service in the country. Musk had suggested that the service was being obstructed by 'certain oligarchs' to maintain their monopolistic control over the market, specifically hinting at the influence of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani.

In a post on social media platform X, Musk questioned, 'Is Ambani the real boss of India?' expressing frustration at the perceived hindrances faced by Starlink after reportedly spending five years to comply with Indian regulations.

Officials from the Indian government have labeled Musk's allegations as 'baseless' and 'misconceived.' They assert that the regulatory process concerning Starlink has been conducted fairly without bias toward any particular entity, including Reliance Jio, the telecommunications company affiliated with Ambani.

Musk's comments were made against the backdrop of Starlink's extended delays in obtaining the necessary authorizations to operate in India, which some observers have linked to ongoing discussions about business influence and regulation within the country.

Mukesh Ambani's son, Akash Ambani, has declined to comment on Musk's assertions, while Indian politician Rahul Gandhi has also weighed in, suggesting that there is more to the story than meets the eye, though he did not elaborate further.

Despite the tensions surrounding Musk's criticisms, the Indian government maintains that its licensing process is transparent and equitable, countering any notion that favoritism plays a role in this matter. The ongoing discussion highlights the intersection of business interests, regulatory frameworks, and competitive dynamics in India's telecom sector.
