Iranian Foreign Minister Arrives in New York for UN Assembly
Abbas Araqchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, arrived in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly, where he aims to advocate for his people's rights.

Abbas Araqchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, arrived in New York on Monday, just days ahead of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. According to Iranian state television, following his arrival, Araqchi had a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
During the Assembly, Araqchi emphasized that Iranian representatives would be present to "defend the rights and interests of the Iranian people." This statement was made in comments to the press, where he highlighted Iran's intention to actively participate in discussions.
In addition to Araqchi, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian is also scheduled to speak at the Assembly. His speech is anticipated with interest, given the current tense relationship between Iran and the United States.

The U.S. State Department had warned the previous week that visas would be granted to Pezeshkian and his delegation, a rare move for a leader of a country in conflict with the U.S. This decision was widely reported by various international media sources.
Alongside Iranian matters, other topics related to global conflicts will also be in focus during this General Assembly, including the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is among the leaders slated to speak, addressing the situation in his nation and Russia's actions.
The meetings of the UN General Assembly represent an important platform for discussions on international security and human rights, and the participation of leaders from various nations reflects current global priorities. The ongoing speeches and negotiations will highlight existing tensions and expectations for resolutions regarding various ongoing conflicts.
