Karnataka is preparing for a statewide bandh on August 13, primarily in response to the ongoing Cauvery water-sharing dispute. Vatal Nagaraj, a representative of pro-Kannada groups, emphasized that the bandh addresses multiple issues beyond just the Cauvery row.

Reports indicate that banks, hospitals, pharmacies, and public transport services are expected to remain mostly unaffected during the shutdown. However, significant disruptions to commercial activities and public transport are anticipated across the state, as pro-Kannada groups demand action regarding the water dispute and associated projects.

Additionally, heavy rain and thunderstorms have been forecasted for the same day, which may exacerbate travel difficulties. Residents are advised to stay informed about conditions, particularly before embarking on long-distance journeys.
