Left, Greens and SPD conclude exploratory talks in Berlin
The parties have agreed on a basis for coalition negotiations, which will now be submitted to their party committees.

Four weeks after the election to the Berlin House of Representatives, the Left, the Greens, and the SPD have successfully completed their exploratory talks. This was reported by several media outlets. The three parties plan to propose the initiation of coalition negotiations to the heads of their party committees.
A joint press statement from the parties is expected in the afternoon. The discussions were described as good and intensive, with Katalin Eralp, the chair of the Left party parliamentary group, highlighting the positive collaboration.
Key topics discussed during the exploratory talks include a possible socialization of housing and educational policy measures addressing free access from daycare to university.

Additionally, the parties are also considering new approaches to waste disposal, such as a free bulky waste collection day and the introduction of a packaging tax. This is part of their strategy to strengthen street cleaning and improve waste management in Berlin.
Regarding education, there are considerations about mobile phone usage, while discussions also included the issues of refugee children and the role of the Bundeswehr. The specific plans are still being developed by the parties.
If the party committees accept the proposal for coalition negotiations, the talks will be formalized. The results of the exploratory talks will serve as a starting point for future political collaboration among the three parties.
