After the Left Party's electoral victory in Berlin, the party is planning talks with the Greens and the SPD about a possible coalition. Chancellor Merz has reportedly issued stern warnings against such collaboration, characterizing the alliance as dangerous.

Potential coalition partners have expressed concerns regarding anti-Semitic tendencies within the Left Party. Politicians warn that cooperation could have negative impacts on the Jewish community in the capital.

In a similar vein, Green Party members, including Cem Özdemir, demanded a clear demarcation from anti-Semitic positions by the Left Party. Özdemir emphasized that the party may need to exclude anti-Semites from its ranks in order to be part of a government.

Former Bundestag President Wolfgang Thierse echoed these sentiments, addressing the associated risks for police, housing, and democracy. He labeled a coalition with the Left Party as irresponsible.

CSU leader Söder also warned the SPD and the Greens against forming an alliance with the Left Party, indicating that he has clear expectations regarding how to handle the election winner. The debate over government formation in Berlin remains tense and controversial.
