Lieke Klaver secures bronze in 400 meters at European Championships in Birmingham

Lieke Klaver secured bronze in the 400 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Saturday. The 27-year-old athlete finished the final with a time of 50.15 seconds. This marks her second bronze medal in the 400 meters at the European Championships.

In the race, Klaver finished behind Norway's Henriette Jaeger, who took gold with a time of 49.04 seconds, and Poland's Natalia Bukowiecka, who won silver with 50.04 seconds.

Klaver's performance at the Championships in Birmingham matches her time from 2024, when she also won bronze at the Championships in Rome. This medal confirms her return to form after a less successful season last year.

After the race, Klaver appeared visibly disappointed with her performance. In the season leading up to this Championships, she had worked hard to regain her form.

Earlier this season, Klaver also won a bronze medal with the relay team, which contributed to her confidence heading into the 400 meters final.

The focus is now on the upcoming competitions, where Klaver hopes to further improve her form.
