Margarita Robles assures that SAIC project in Ferrol has Defense backing
The government responds to concerns about the SAIC facility in Ferrol, emphasizing its national security.

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, has confirmed to the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, that the project of the Chinese automotive giant SAIC in Ferrol has the backing of the Ministry of Defense. This statement aims to calm the concerns that have arisen regarding SAIC's installation on the grounds of the Ferrol Outer Port.
The project has faced criticism due to its proximity to the Ferrol Military Arsenal, an operational base of the Spanish Navy in the north of the country, as well as to the facilities of Navantia, where American security and armament systems are developed. Concerns have focused on the potential threat that this foreign investment could pose to national security.
With this clarification from the government, there is hope to reduce media noise and speculation about the risks associated with the presence of a Chinese company in this strategic location.
