Matthew Brennan claims impressive second stage win at Vuelta
Matthew Brennan secures his second stage victory in the Vuelta a España, supported by strong teamwork from his teammates.

Matthew Brennan of Team Visma won his second stage in the Vuelta a España on Wednesday. In the fifth stage, the 21-year-old Brit was the fastest in a mass sprint, backed by strong support from teammates Wout van Aert and Christophe Laporte.
Brennan's victory came after a perfect lead-out from his team, allowing him to sprint to the finish without any threat. The team demonstrated overwhelming dominance in the stage, which was crucial for Brennan’s swift final push.
Jordi Meeus, who also participated in the stage, finished in second place. The Limburg native had to concede to Brennan, who easily pushed him aside during the final sprint. Meeus likened Brennan’s accomplishment to Tadej Pogacar’s performance in the previous stage, which also seemed unbeatable.

In the last fifty kilometers, several hills troubled Brennan’s competitors, such as Mads Pedersen and Kaden Groves. They were unable to keep up with the thinned-out peloton, providing Brennan with a crucial advantage.
Brennan's victory is a confirmation of his talent and the strong teamwork within his squad. Meeus acknowledged that he had to admit that Van Aert and Laporte rank among the best in the world in their lead-out roles.
The next stage in the Vuelta promises to be thrilling once again, with Brennan in peak form and formidable competitors not to be underestimated.
