Moreno requests reactivation of Civil Guard unit against drug trafficking
Andalusian President Juanma Moreno has written to the government requesting the reinstatement of an elite Civil Guard unit against drug trafficking due to rising violence linked to these mafias.

Juanma Moreno, President of the Junta de Andalucía, has sent a letter to Pedro Sánchez requesting the reactivation of the elite Civil Guard unit known as OCON-Sur. This unit was dismantled four years ago and was specialized in fighting drug trafficking in the region.
Moreno's request comes amid growing concern over the escalation of violence related to drug trafficking, which has intensified in recent months in various towns across Andalucía.
The Andalusian president justifies his request by citing the urgent need to take action in light of the rise in insecurity caused by criminal organizations operating in the community. His request coincides with a recent shooting in Isla Cristina that left three fatalities.

Reactivating this unit would strengthen the Spanish government's fight against drug trafficking, an issue that has gained prominence on the Andalusian political agenda.
According to ABC, Moreno has expressed his concern over the increasing activity of these mafias and emphasized the importance of having a specialized unit to tackle this challenge.
Meanwhile, El País reports that Moreno's request comes at a time when the mafias are operating in different areas of Andalucía, which has led to an increase in insecurity in the region.
